K536 Stoker First Class Albert Hunt of the Royal Navy. Died Thursday 15 October 1914, aged 24. Lost at sea when HMS Hawke was sunk by U-boat U9. The 1901 census found Albert Hunt, aged 10, resident at 458 The Blocks [Stonebroom] with his parents Thomas and Annie Hunt. Thomas Hunt was a Coal Hewer. Albert's parents and siblings were born in Stonebroom. He was born in nearby Pilsley. He had been a career Royal Navy sailor till 1913. HMS Hawke was serving as a training ship when it was sunk.
